Galena is Moving!
Well an amazing opportunity has come her way and Galena will be moving from the Baltimore Metro area to a lovely little town in West Virginia. She is hoping that once her family is settled that she can begin teaching classes again. It will be a big change for the family but definitely a good one.
Intro to Bellydance Workshop @ Soft and Cozy!
Mom’s Night Out: Bellydance! Introduction to bellydance will give you a brief overview of American Style bellydance. You will learn the fundamentals and importance of proper posture, basic technique and dance etiquette. This class will get you up and moving and best of all, having a good time! This is a technique based class where you will learn individual steps and short combinations to get you up and moving.

What do I need to know when taking a workshop with Galena?
- Wear comfortable clothes that are loose fitting enough so they do not hinder movement. Yoga pants, sweat pants, T-shirt, Tank top, sports bra, etc.
- Bring water to keep hydrated – expect to sweat some especially in summer
- Bring a scarf, hip scarf or coin belt so you can tie it around your hips. It makes it easier to see or hear the movement. It is ok if you don’t have one.
- Have fun! No one here is going to be an expert their first night.
- Everyone else here is learning just like you. Don’t be self conscious. Let go and enjoy yourself.
Can minors attend class?
Anyone 12 to 112 can attend bellydance classes but they must be paying, registered students. We will try to schedule a mother/daughter or mother/baby class at another time. This is MOM’s NIGHT OUT! It is not suggested that you bring your children to just play in the corner while you learn. It is a distraction to you, the other students and Galena while she is instructing.
Can I just come to watch?
No, spectators are not allowed in the classroom once class has started. If you would like to pay for the workshop and then just sit and watch that is fine. But it is not fair to the other students who are learning for you to watch them. People often feel uncomfortable when learning something new.

Galena had her baby on June 11, 2010 at 9:36am. She had a beautiful baby girl weighing in as her smallest baby yet at 8lbs 14oz. Mommy and baby are VERY healthy and recovering very quickly at home with her two other sons.
Galena is sorry to say that for now there will be no new class sessions starting in 2010. Galena is taking some time off of teaching to focus on her growing family. Stay posted for when classes will resume. Having had 2 children before she knows just how much goes into having a new born and balancing the new family schedule so she doesn’t want to make any guarantees that classes will start in January.

Having had 2 children before she knows just how much goes into having a new born so she doesn’t want to make any guarantees that classes will start in the fall.

Sorry but class is canceled for tonight, Feb. 1, 2010. The recent surprise amount of snow that we had over the weekend is apparently still covering the parking lot and large hill on the way down to the College Park Swim Club House where class is held. I have not received an answer yet as to when/if they are going to plow it. So for the safety of all the students I am canceling class for tonight and hopefully all will be clear by next Monday. We will add on a make-up snow day at the end of the session.

Well, this year there will be a new addition to the Galena Dance team. Galena is due to have a baby (her 3rd) in June. Due to the change in family plans Galena will only be having one more dance class session this winter and then taking some time off during her 3rd trimester but is hoping to start up teaching again after the baby has come and the family has adjusted to the new addition.
Galena’s class session will run January 18th through Feb 22, 2010. If you are a current student or had been looking forward to a future session with Galena then please let her know and she can hopefully help you find another instructor to study with until she is back.
Galena and family are very excited about the upcoming events but at the same time very sad to say a temporary goodbye to her students.

New Beginner/Adv. Beginner Veil Classes starting September 21, 2009 through October 26th! If there is enough interest this session we will split it into 2 classes. Since the session ends right around Halloween so we are going to do some fun fusion for the holiday.
